2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster
It was not very well kept secret and is now officially available: Mercedes-Benz is working on SLS Roadster, the company confirmed. Stuttgart is both leak pictures of the prototype, which appears to be ready for production. Open the AMG version of the SLS course to lose not only its flat top, and gullwing doors. Roadster doors on the sides of the deepest and operates as usual, a Mercedes-style lounge door handles, instead of cutting through the pop-out slide. In addition, the doors to stretch beyond the cup, but the impression of a very long hood is still intact.
The photo is taken from above, without hiding anything from the back door is much higher than the roof to convert the electricity, and do not believe there is plenty of luggage, either. In view consists of two fixed roll-bar, and the seats do not seem much different than the Coupé. We suspect, leather lined interior is waterproof from top to bottom, even if the pictures were taken in the rain.
When the AMG will be replaced by attending high rpm, naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-8 (as in S and CL-Classes), we suspect that the SLS Roadster crazy horse will be 563 6.2, which produces 479 Nm of torque. It is not just a brand of SLS motor, fits the nature of this sports car very well, and when the top-down, is still more likely to listen to this awesome soundtrack for the engine. structural reinforcements and convertible-top mechanism definitely increase the weight, performance may decrease slightly.
Does the SLS AMG need an open-top version, since it is really defined by its gullwing doors? Well, this roadster proves that Mercedes is truly paying homage to the original 300SL, code-named W198; the gullwing W198 came in 1954, followed by a roadster version in 1957. Unlike its historical role model, however, the SLS AMG won’t be entirely replaced by the roadster version. Rather, it will be complemented by it, with both cars being sold alongside each other.
